Looking for help with MLM Recruiting? Recruiting and sponsoring has to be the most sought out subject in the network marketing industry. Why are so many people in network marketing struggling with recruiting? I think it boils down to not receiving the right kind of training from the get go when they first join their network marketing business. You see most of us when we join our company the company training usually consists of making a list, calling friends and family, and hoping someone signs up.
Most companies use a generic type of recruiting system that only works for a few. If you think about it MLM recruiting requires a lot of psychology and learning about human behavior. There are reasons why people buy and why they don’t buy. Network marketing companies do not touch this subject at all. How do I know this? Because I struggled for years in my business UNTIL I learned the real secrets to MLM recruiting. Thanks to a great course by Mike Dillard and Mark Weiser called Black Belt Recruiting. In a few short hours I had learned what mistakes I had been making all of these years. I am going to reveal how to avoid the mistakes I and many other leaders have made in regards to recruiting.
MLM Recruiting Mistakes To Avoid
Odds are that you are reading this right now because your are making mistakes in your MLM recruiting efforts. Don’t fret because the best way to learn is to make mistakes and to learn from them. The biggest mistake that people make when venturing out into the very cold market is lack of communication skills. Or in simpler terms you don’t know what the heck to say to someone that just became a lead. Learning how to generate tons of leads is the focus of most network marketers but they have no clue on how to talk to them.
Here is a simple but effective guideline when using the phone you can use that has helped me.
- Introduction- Introducing yourself to the prospect and letting them know why you are calling.
- Ask if it’s a good time to speak by asking “is this is an okay time to talk?”.
- Probing and qualifying- Probe to see if your prospect is qualified and find out their “why’.
- If they do qualify then send them information either via email or by mail.
- Set up a follow up time by setting an appointment.
- Follow up and collect a decision after they have viewed the information on your business.
The most important part of the MLM recruiting process is qualifying. You do not want to waste time with wrong people, this is one of the mistakes I have made in the past. You want prospects who have a solid why and have the right mindset. To find these things out you have to ask your prospect the tough questions. If they cannot come up with a good answer, then let them loose. This is another secret that will empower you, the willingness to let prospects go.
Some other mistakes to avoid is to never answer your prospects questions. You are there to interview them, not vice versa. The person in control of the conversation is the one in control. Never EVER let a prospect wrestle control from you, if their rude or obnoxious let them go! You have to go into the mindset of being a CEO of your own enterprise. If you were a high powered executive that ran a multi million dollar company you wouldn’t let anyone run all over you would you? Absolutely not, and this is how you should be conducting all of your recruiting calls.
MLM Recruiting ISN’T A Grind
When I started adopting the attitude of not caring if someone signed up or not is when I felt free. Before that point I would do prospects favors, meet them at a time convenient from them and roll out the red carpet. Needless to say that approach did not work because my prospects saw me as weak and not a leader. MLM recruiting became a lot of fun when I took charge and started interviewing my prospects. If they gave me any kind of hassle I would simply hang up and move onto my next call.
And you can do this too and it’s so much fun. When you come from this approach you will absolutely love your business and you won’t feel so stressed out if someone signs up or not. The thing is that when you let go and act like you don’t care if someone signs the dotted line is when you will free yourself. How often do we stress ourselves out because no one is signing up? The thing is that they are not signing up is because they sense you need them. I always refer to MLM recruiting like dating. Because when your clingy and needy you will scare off your potential partner. Same goes for sponsoring and recruiting.
So from now on start conducting your calls in a way where your interviewing that prospect. Put their feet to the fire to see what they are really all about. And lastly just let go and have fun! Because recruiting should not be a grind.
